World Book Day Workshops at Blackwell’s: 3 March 2018

On Saturday 3 March Blackwell’s will be holding workshops in the children’s department where you can create your own book cover, writing about books you would recommend and story time (11am and 2pm) all taking place between 11am – 4:30pm

Operation Earth at Oxford Natural History Museum: 3 March 2018

Drop in for a chat with science experts about a host of subjects and take in hands-on activities to discover more about planet Earth. Pop by for a chance to meet expert scientists and ask them about what they do and why.

A fun drop in session for skaters of all abilities at The Oxford Ice Rink

Flubber, Rubber and Slime – Saturday Science Club: 3 March 2018

From taking your packed lunch to school and carrying wet swimming stuff home, to the optical fibres that bring us the internet and the fleeces that keep us warm, plastics are a necessary part of our everyday lives. You and your young scientists will explore how some very clever chemistry makes sludgey slime and pencil case rubbers work. Make polymers from milk and a bouncing ball to bounce all the way back home.

Suitable for ages 5-9

Date and time: Saturday, 3rd March 2018 10am – 11.30am, 12.30pm – 2pm and 2.30pm – 4pm

Ttravel underground to make your very own jumpy bunny, mole in a hole, brilliant badger, bouncy bat, playful fox and mischievous meerket.

Available Saturdays and every day during the Oxfordshire school holidays.

Times: 10:30am – 12:30pm and 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Cost: £2 per child

Suitable for: Children age 3+

Booking Information: Tickets available from the Museum Shop 10 minutes before the event starts. Please note that drop-in activities can be very popular. If very busy on the day, we will restrict tickets to timed entry slots. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by, and remain with, an adult at all times.

Nick Cope’s Songbook

Ex indie-rocker frontman of The Candyskins (considered by many to be one of the seminal bands of the Brit Pop era, along with Oxford-based groups Radiohead and Supergrass), Nick brings his own brand of acoustic folk-rock to the world of children’s music, creating interactive concerts for families

Neill Cameron’s Comics Club

Develop your comic-making skills and share ideas with like-minded enthusiasts. Awesome comic artist Neill Cameron will be on hand to offer helpful advice and tips. Comics Club meets on the first Saturday of the month – come for a single session or become a regular

Highway Rat Activity Trail at Wendover Woods: 3 & 4 March 2018

The Highway Rat is the latest Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book to be brought to life at Wendover Woods.

Follow the panels, complete activities and interact with the forest as you head on a journey with The Highway Rat and all the characters from the story!

Little Ankle Biters are always on the look out for ways to entertain the kids without spending a fortune, and going to the cinema for just £2.49 per person is one way of doing it, especially on a rainy day.

Vue Cinema in Oxford run Mini Mornings every weekend on a Saturday and Sunday morning, plus every day during the school holidays.

Yarn Bombing at Henley River & Rowing Museum: 3 & 4 March 2018

Enjoy these incredible colourful creations as the museum is hit by a wave of yarn bombing! Thames Path Together crafting group have created an astounding variety of crochet and knitted designs, weaving, needlework, and collage. On show you’ll be able to see textile paintings, rowers, boats, ducks and a giant Mr Toad!
