My First Ballet – Swan Lake, New Theatre Oxford

If you have a child who loves ballet the My First Ballet series are an excellent first taste of the magical world of ballet. I took both my girls last year with a group of friends and they absolutely loved it!

Enjoy one of the most famous ballets of all time together, in this beautifully adapted new version for children aged three upwards.

The evil magician Rothbart has turned the beautiful princess Odette into a swan; only at night can she return to human form. Will Prince Siegfried be able to save her or will he fall for Rothbart’s sorcery?

This shortened version with Tchaikovsky’s wonderful music is the perfect introduction to the magic of ballet for young children, and a fantastic family day out.

This unique collaboration between English National Ballet and English National Ballet School is performed by second year students of English National Ballet School.

Since its creation in 2012, over 250,000 people have enjoyed our My First Ballet series.

The Netherlands National Circus

This brand new show is back on tour in the UK and really does have something for everyone. A treat for the whole family. 2 hours of top class entertainment brought to you from inside our climate controlled, theatre style Big Top.

An international cast of performers bring you a dynamic mix of traditional and modern circus acts. The show will have you on the edge of your seats with laughter, excitement, suspense, happiness, and joy.

So much entertainment packed into one show with comedy, juggling, acrobatics, hand balancing, aerial performances and lots more.

OutBurst – Oxford Brookes University Festival

OutBurst is the Oxford Brookes University festival at the Pegasus Theatre on Magdalen Road.

Brookes will be bursting out of the university campus into the community, bringing great ideas, activities and entertainment right to the doorstep of the Oxford public.

The festival, now in its 7th year, will run from Thursday 19th – Saturday 21st April 2018 and showcases cutting-edge research and expertise from across the university in a variety of stimulating and fun events for students, staff, and the local community, including installations, lectures, workshops, exhibitions, and discussions for all ages.

On the Saturday there are lots of family friendly events taking place including ‘Read and Draw events’ with the creators of Winnie the Witch, Bing Bunny and Shifty McGifty. There will also be art sessions, origami, martial arts workshops, face-painting, furniture design sessions and robots to meet!

Anna Conomos: Jason & The Argonauts at Oxford Story Museum

A rip-roaring interactive storytelling adventure through Ancient Greece with Jason and his Argonauts as we meet fire-breathing dragons and magical moving mountains.

With dressing up, chants and challenges along the way we will face all our fears with unlimited imagination and discover that great friendship can truly move mountains.

Suitable for ages 6+.

Storyteller and author Anna Conomos has spent over thirteen years performing internationally in festivals, museums, schools, castles, boats and beyond! In 2005 Anna won the Young Storyteller of the Year UK award. With her boundless energy and vocal colour, Anna’s spell-binding collection of folk and fairy tales, myths, legends and songs from across the globe will sweep you up into a whirlwind of adventure. Whether young or old be prepared to get involved – turn into crazy characters, learn interactive rhythms, journey through time and space. This is a storytelling experience not to be missed!

Super Saturday Skate, Oxford Ice Rink: 21 April 2018

A fun drop in session for skaters of all abilities at The Oxford Ice Rink

Minecraft: PI Mode – Creative Computing Club

A fantastic workshop for all young fans of Minecraft who would like to create their own digital world. Using Python on a Raspberry Pi, your ‘Steve’ can take control of their cubic universe and get creative! They will learn how to generate, move, and change blocks with the touch of their fingers. But their skills aren’t limited to the Minecraft world – the ultimate mod will allow them to code the Minecraft dimension to influence the real world!

Highway Rat Activity Trail at Wendover Woods

The Highway Rat is the latest Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book to be brought to life at Wendover Woods.

Follow the panels, complete activities and interact with the forest as you head on a journey with The Highway Rat and all the characters from the story!

MINI VUE CINEMA IN OXFORD, 21 & 22 April 2018

Little Ankle Biters are always on the look out for ways to entertain the kids without spending a fortune, and going to the cinema for just £2.49 per person is one way of doing it, especially on a rainy day.

Vue Cinema in Oxford run Mini Mornings every weekend on a Saturday and Sunday morning, plus every day during the school holidays.
