The Sagas of Noggin the Nog at North Wall Art Centre: 24 March 2018

In the Lands of the North where the black rocks stand guard against the cold sea, in the dark night that is very long, the Men of the Northlands sit around their great log fires and they tell a tale… of Noggin the Nog!

Featuring silly Vikings, puppets and live music, this playful retelling of the classic stories created by Oliver Postgate & Peter Firmin is a fun piece of theatre for adults and children alike.

Musical Micro:Bits — Creative Computing Club: 24 March 2018

Join us for a musical coding workshop fit for Beethoven. Start by teaching your Micro:bit to wave at you using a special motor, before giving it ‘arms’ and teaching it to play an instrument. Will you choose a drum, a xylophone or maybe a triangle?

Join together with other club members to form a Micro:bit percussion orchestra and have a go at conducting. It’s going to be a musical riot!

Suitable for ages 9 -12

Date and time: 24 March at 10AM – 11.30AM (Fully Booked) and 12.30PM – 2PM

Ttravel underground to make your very own jumpy bunny, mole in a hole, brilliant badger, bouncy bat, playful fox and mischievous meerket.

Available Saturdays and every day during the Oxfordshire school holidays.

Times: 10:30am – 12:30pm and 2:00pm – 4:00pm

Cost: £2 per child

Suitable for: Children age 3+

Booking Information: Tickets available from the Museum Shop 10 minutes before the event starts. Please note that drop-in activities can be very popular. If very busy on the day, we will restrict tickets to timed entry slots. Tickets are sold on a first come, first served basis. Children aged 12 and under must be accompanied by, and remain with, an adult at all times.

Earth Trust Lambing Weekend – 24 & 25 March 2018

Each year Earth Trust invites you behind the scenes of their working farm. The Lambing Weekends are your opportunity to explore the farmyard and meet some of our Farm Step tenants and their animals – including newborn lambs, piglets and goats! All the farmers will be on hand to introduce you to their animals and tell you more about the life of a shepherd, pig farmer and goat cheesemaker.

But that’s not all! There’ll also be…

  • Bale climbing (bigger and better than ever!)
  • Tractor and trailer rides
  • Children’s activities

Refreshments available from Poem Tree Café and the Emma’s Ewesful Acres BBQ

Oxford Literary Festival at The Oxford Story Museum: 24 & 25 March 2018

Oxford Literary Festival starts this weekend and The Oxford Story Museum has a schedule jam packed full of author events including book signings with Charlie and Lola author, Lauren Child, Illustration Workshops with illustrator Claire Alexander and much more.

Highway Rat Activity Trail at Wendover Woods: 24 & 25 March 2018

The Highway Rat is the latest Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler book to be brought to life at Wendover Woods.

Follow the panels, complete activities and interact with the forest as you head on a journey with The Highway Rat and all the characters from the story!

MINI VUE CINEMA IN OXFORD, 24 & 25 March 2018

Little Ankle Biters are always on the look out for ways to entertain the kids without spending a fortune, and going to the cinema for just £2.49 per person is one way of doing it, especially on a rainy day.

Vue Cinema in Oxford run Mini Mornings every weekend on a Saturday and Sunday morning, plus every day during the school holidays.

Yarn Bombing at Henley River & Rowing Museum: 24 & 25 March 2018

Enjoy these incredible colourful creations as the museum is hit by a wave of yarn bombing! Thames Path Together crafting group have created an astounding variety of crochet and knitted designs, weaving, needlework, and collage. On show you’ll be able to see textile paintings, rowers, boats, ducks and a giant Mr Toad!

Planet Dinosaur at Oxford’s Natural History Museum: 25 March 2018

Join author Elaine Wickson for a talk for families packed with infographics, dinosaurs and space, inspired by her brand new book Planet Stan.
With larger-than-life infographics featuring pie charts and Venn diagrams, you will laugh your socks off at the story of Stan and his chaotic brother, and be amazed by the dinosaurs and objects from the Museum of Natural History that feature in the book. After the talk, explore the museum with creative writing activities and dinosaur crafts – just drop in.
