What’s on over the Easter Holidays in Oxfordshire

If you’re looking for things to do with the family over the Easter school holidays in and around Oxfordshire, we’ve got good news. There’s absolutely loads happening, and we’ve got a handy guide to all the not-to-be-missed bits right here. We’ll also be adding to this as more is announced so make sure you keep checking back.

 

Easter Bunny Hunt at Waterperry Gardens

1 – 24 April

Easter Bunny Hunt at Waterperry

The Easter Bunny Hunt at Waterperry Gardens is taking place between 1st April till 24th April, 10am till 5.30pm daily

Join the Big Easter Bunny Hunt around the ornamental gardens. Find them all and claim a special Easter prize. £2.50 per child – children must be accompanied by an adult for whom the garden entrance fee applies.

Easter at Cogges

6 – 22 April

Easter Cogges

Giant Easter nests have taken over Cogges.  Visitors to the farm over the Easter holidays will discover a trail of climb-in, get-involved, & clamber-on nests made with natural materials that you might find in the surrounding fields and forest. Imagine yourselves as woodland creatures, get dressed-up and hunt for eggs in the Easter play barn, ride mini tractors and run free through the beautiful landscape of Cogges looking for signs of spring.

At weekends, you’ll be able to join in with meet-the-animal sessions at 11am and 2pm, as well as try tasty treats in the manor house kitchen. The Easter trail is £3 and is redeemable for a prize in the gift shop.

On Tuesday 9th April and 16th April Cogges’ Woodland Club will be busy under the trees crafting and cooking over a campfire (just drop-in).

There will also be a programme of shows and performances throughout the holidays, including ‘egg-drop challenge’ workshops from Science Oxford on Wednesday 10th April, Treasure Island family theatre on Thursday 11th April, and Nick Cope on Good Friday 19th April. Please note that these events require booking in advance for an additional cost.

Only one question remains, who could possibly lay giant nests with enormous eggs?

Farmer Carter’s Courtyard-Easter Holidays

Millet’s Easter Holiday event will be located at Millets Maze Courtyard…all the puzzling fun without the maize!

Spring into game mode and help Farmer Carter with our great quiz trails and activities within the woodlands, fort maze and courtyard as well as tractor trailer rides & baby animals!

Decorate an Easter Egg with Frosts Garden Centre

Have Fun at Frosts meeting the Easter Bunny, where he will give every child a small gift!

Children can then get creative by decorating their very own chocolate Easter egg with a selection of yummy sweeties perfect to take home for an Easter treat. Children will finish the activity with a bunny hunt around the Garden Centre and a glass of squash.

The activity lasts approximately 25 minutes and children must be accompanied by an adult.

Baby Boogie a Pegasus Theatre

Baby Boogie Oxford Story Museum

Dancin’ Oxford’s favourite family event Baby Boogie is back. Bounce onto the dance floor, throw some shapes and groove to the tunes from a live DJ. Disco sessions start at 11:30am and 2:30pm. If you fancy a warm up workshop arrive an hour earlier at 10:30am or the 1:30pm. Great fun for you and your under 5’s places £5 or £7 with the warm up workshop.

In the Willows at Oxford Playhouse

In the Willows is an explosive new British musical, with soaring vocals and spectacular street dance, starring Olivier Award winner Clive Rowe, deaf street dancer Chris Fonseca (The Greatest Dancer), Seann Miley Moore (X Factor) and Matt Knight (Let It Shine).

Mole’s first day in ‘The Willows’. Her classmates look a bit scary. Surely Mr Badger will look out for her, as streetwise Rattie, rich kid Toad and cheeky Otter teach her the ways of The Riverbank. But when Toad gets locked up for joyriding, the Weasel Clan break into his (lily)pad. It’s now only a matter of time before Chief Weasel reveals Mole’s dark secret…

This classic story is brought leaping into the 21st century, featuring choreography by the award-winning Rhimes Lecointe (Associate choreographer for Zoo Nation, and Artistic Director of Boudicea). With ballads, beats, and backflips, this classic story is brought leaping into the 21st century in this fresh new musical for all the family.

All performances of In The Willows will be performed in British Sign Language.

Muckers at Oxford Playhouse

17 – 20 April

Paloma has always mucked about with Pijon. They love it. They run wild. They dress up. Like tigers, flamenco dancers, queens, kings, rabbits and Lady Gaga. Everything. Life is fun and funny and a little bit loopy. Until all of a sudden, Paloma comes face to face with a blinding light named Big Luce. Paloma doesn’t understand what she’s done wrong but Big Luce just won’t leave her be. Paloma and Pijon are catapulted into a strange new world where they begin their surreal adventure, determined to find out what Big Luce is all about.

Created by award-winning theatre maker Caroline Horton and an international ensemble, Muckers is a funny, magical, physical production for ages 5+.

Performed in both English and Spanish, with original songs, this mischievous show asks what it takes to stand proud and be true to ourselves, and how we empower the next generation to do the same.

Muckers is showing at The Oxford Playhouse during the Easter School Holidays between 17 – 20 April 2019

Easter at Blenheim Palace 

19 – 22 April

The Blenheim Palace Pleasure Gardens will transform into an Easter wonderland with lots of interactive experiences, family-friendly activities, Easter trails and shows to enjoy.

Find a traditional fairground, Dressing Up Tent, Princess Meet & Greet plus Conk the Clown Punch and Judy and Carnival Birds walkabout.

Embark on an Easter Bunny Walkabout, or frolic with the fairy stilt walkers; plus have a go at Archery and get jumping on the bouncy castle or try bungee trampolining!

Families can also see an Easter Puppet Show, watch Balloon Twisters, take part in Circus Skills Workshops and have their faces painted over the four-day celebration.

During the school holidays there will be a full programme of animal encounters with lots of new babies to get close to, such as Oxford Sandy & Black piglets, goat kids, ducklings and chicks.

Easter Egg Hunt – 5 – 23 April – Hunt around the museum and garden for Easter clues to solve a puzzle and claim your chocolate prize. There are two egg hunts planned – one inside and one outside – so whatever the weather your Easter fun is sorted! No need to book. Suitable for ages 2 – 11 years, £2.50 per child. Family Stargazing Evening – Monday 8 April, 7.00 – 9.30pm – This family friendly stargazing evening will feature a talk from Dr Sandy Giles on the most prominent feature in the night sky – the moon. This will be followed by some time spent looking at the stars through telescopes from the museum grounds with local experts and dinner. Adults £17.50, Under 15s £10.00, Under 5s £3.00. Discover & Make Easter Crafts – Tuesday 16 & Thursday 18 April, 10.30, 11.30am, 1.15, 2.15, 3.15pm – Get set for some Easter bunny fun and create your own pop-up hopping bunny to take home. Cadbury’s Easter Trail – Springing into Life at Cliveden 

6 – 23 April 2019, 10.30am – 3.30pm

Explore Cliveden’s Spring gardens on the annual Easter Trail where children will leap into spring with an interactive, nature-themed Easter trail. At the end of the trail children will receive a special Cadbury chocolate egg, or a non-sugary alternative.

The trail runs from 6 – 23 April, 10.30am – 3.30pm and costs £3.00 per child. No need to book, just turn up, collect your trail map from the visitor centre in the main car park and enjoy the great outdoors. To find out more now, click here.
