There’s not much beats the smell of Christmas markets with all those yummy food stalls, mulled wine and Christmas scented goodies, and it’s something the whole family can enjoy.

We’ve pulled together a list of the best Christmas markets in the country to make it that bit easier for you to pick the best one for you. Whether you want to jump in the car for a day trip, or if you’re planning something a bit more extravagant with a weekend away, we’ve got something that will have you ho ho ho-ing all the way there.


23 November – 10 December 2017

Bath proves a stunning location for a Christmas market, set under the watchful eye of the Abbey you’ll find over 200 chalet style stalls lining the streets. There’s a great range of food to buy and sample, as well as lots of Christmas gifts and little treats for yourself, most of which are locally produced. And don’t miss the ice rink in Royal Victoria Park to make it the perfect day trip for the kiddies.

Hyde Park’s Winter Wonderland

17 November 2017 – 1 January 2018

For 6 weeks Hyde Park will be transformed in to a magical winter wonderland buzzing with Christmas festivities. It’s free to enter and has so much going on, it’s a perfect day out for all the family. You’ll find all the usual food and drink stalls and well as Christmas gifts and goodies. Where this experience comes in to itself is the attractions, rides and entertainment. You’ll find a huge lit up ferris wheel, ice rink, Santa Land, the Magical Ice Kingdom Deep Sea Adventure, Cinderella on Ice, Zippos Christmas Circus and much, much more.

Winter Wonderland Nottingham

17 November – 31 December 2017

Immerse yourself in the glow of the Christmas lights and trees, visit cabins selling seasonal food, drink and crafts when the Winter Wonderland returns to Nottingham this November. You’ll also find an ice rink which can be booked online in advance to avoid disappointment as it tends to get pretty busy.

16 November – 24 December 2017

The largest authentic German Christmas market outside of Germany or Austria, Birmingham’s Frankfurt Christmas Market offers a large range of traditional good and gifts and a selection of tempting food and drink. Pretzels, schnitzels, bratwursts, and roasted almonds will tempt your tastebuds, all of which can be washed down with gluhwein or a tasty hot chocolate.

20 November – 22 December 2017

Recognised as one of the best in Europe with its unique location, high quality exhibitors and bustling atmosphere. Wonderful Christmas gifts, decorations and festive foods can be found in abundance. It’s inspired by traditional German Christmas markets and attracts close to half a million visitors each year. The pretty wooden chalets are situated in the Cathedral’s historic Close, surrounding an open-air real ice rink.

10 November – 20 December

Manchester’s award-winning Christmas Markets returns this winter offering mouth-watering international food, drinks and delicately crafted Yuletide gifts in the heart of this buzzing city. With more than 300 beautifully festooned stalls and chalets spread across the city centre, the Christmas Markets are free and accessible to all.

The quaint Cotswolds town of Cirencester is full with Christmas activities and events which the children will love. The heart of the town turns in to a huge Christmas market with decorated chalets twinkling with little white lights. There’s also skating in the Abbey grounds of the parish church and a lantern parade. The town lights switch on is the formal opening of the markets.

9 November – 22 December

The Cardiff Christmas Market will return to the pedestrian streets of Cardiff City Centre in St John Street, Working Street, Hills Street, Trinity Street and the Hayes with an exciting and eclectic mix of both new and returning exhibitors as their original, hand made products are the essence of what makes our market so different and special.

17 November – 23 December 2017

We’re proud to be returning for our 8th Christmas Market in Brighton. This year we’re making lots of changes at Jubilee Square with 22 exciting and creative stallholders, snow machines and for the first time we’ll have a Santa’s Grotto. We’ve also got Santa’s Post Box, so the kids can send their letters to Santa, free photos on Santa’s Sleigh, prizes, competitions and food and drink.

10 November – 17 December 2017

Christkindelmarkt is Leeds’ annual traditional German Christmas market, bringing a little piece of Germany into the heart of the city centre. Millennium Square will be transformed into a scenic winter village featuring a variety of authentic wooden chalet stalls, cosy indoor retreats, a traditional carousel and daily programme of light entertainment. Organised by Leeds City Council, traders sell Christmas-themed wares (from jewellery to food) from more than 40 traditional wooden chalet stalls and alpine log cabins.
