We are now well and truly into Autumn with Halloween and Bonfire within just a week away! But, before that here’s a summary of what’s on in Oxfordshire this weekend for families.

EDWARD FIELD SCHOOL FIREWORKS EVENT

For the first time, the Friends of Edward Feild School are hosting a fireworks night. There will be hotdogs, burgers, chips and treats to enjoy, along with fairground rides and more.

Children from Edward Feild school will recieve a free ticket. Gates open at 5.30pm with the display beginning at 6.30pm.
No sparklers please. Under 18s must be accompanied by an adult.

Adult Ticket Price £5
Child Ticket Price £3 (Children from the school – free)

HADDENHAM FIREWORKS NIGHT – SUPERHEROES AND VILLAINS

Hosted by Haddenham St Mary’s C of E School there will be music, free games, entertainment, bbq and pizza,

WESTON ON THE GREEN VILLAGE FIREWORKS DISPLAY

The annual village firework display will take place on Saturday 28th October. Entry £1

NETTLBED FIREWORKS

Enjoy a celebration of both Halloween and Bonfire night at the beautiful grounds of Sue Ryder Nettlebed Hospice annual Fireworks night. Enjoy the spectacular firework display and bonfire, food and drinks stalls, child and adult tombolas and the hotly anticipated children’s Halloween fancy dress competition.

Location: Nettlebed Hospice, Nettlebed. RG9 5DF

Date and time: Saturday 28th October. gates opening at 5pm, Bonfire is lit at 6:30pm, at 6:45pm the Children’s Halloween parade and judging take place with the fireworks display starting at 7:15pm.

WOOTON HALLOWEEN FIREWORKS

Wooton Halloween Fireworks will be synchronised to music. Gates will be open from 5pm serving sausage and mash, bacon rolls and mulled wine.

Location: Wootton Memorial Playing Fields, Wootton, Oxfordshire.

Date and time: Saturday 28th October at 5pm

 

POTTERY WORKSHOPS FOR KIDS

These pottery clay workshops looks like a really fun filled activity for any creative children out there.  They are two hour session making and painting your very own, creative objects out of clay. Creations are then fired at the Barro Studio for collection.

Location: Lisa Jayne Art Studio, Station Road, Bletchingdon. OX5 3BQ.

Date and time: 27th and 28th October 9:30 – 11:30

Price: The pottery workshop are £22 per person which includes clay, glazing and firing.

HALLOWEEN PARTY – CHINNOR

Chinnor Community Pavilion are hosting a Halloween party on Saturday 28th October where there will be pumpkin carving, apple bobbing and a competition for the best dressed.

HALLOWEEN ENTERTAINMENT AT BLENHEIM PALACE

As autumn draws in and the nights become longer, Blenheim Palace has a delightfully spooky itinerary of events and activities to entertain your little ghouls during October Half Term.

Hop on board the ghost train to go through a creepy tunnel to the Pleasure Gardens where a bone-anza of activities are to be found.

Families can lurk around the Labyrinth or take the Mini-beasts Trail, and there will be a whole host of treats on offer in the Pleasure Gardens Deli including ice-scream and toffee apples, with pumpkin carving too!

Head to the cinema in the Stables Courtyard for classic Halloween storytelling, and there will be Spooky Tours running throughout the week with terrorific candlelit tours on selected dates…

MAKER CLUB – HALLOWEEN SPECIAL (SCIENCE OXFORD)

From vampires to Frankenstein’s monster and pumpkins to Wednesday Addams, young ghosts and ghouls can upgrade their Halloween costume this year with some incredible wearable tech. They can add lights, sensors or buzzers to their own costumes to increase the spook factor, or create something terrifyingly unique from scratch. This entertaining workshop will be the perfect treat for anyone who loves Halloween! All creations can be taken home. Fabric and materials provided but participants should either bring their own halloween costume or have a plan for what they’d like to make.

THE ADVENTURES OF BOOK WORM

A fantastic Early Years activity with puppeteer and author Emma Boor! Come along and meet book worm and join in his amazing adventures through the world of story books. An interactive puppets and play session with music, gentle clowning and lots of joining in. Suitable for children aged 0-5 years.

HALLOWEEN TRAIL AT CLIVEDEN

This half term there are some spooky Halloween happenings down in the woods at Cliveden! Bring your little ones to Cliveden National Trust for a fun Halloween trail around the grounds of stunning Cliveden.

HALLOWEEN AT WADDESDON MANOR

The beautiful Waddesdon Manor have a number of spooky activities happening over Halloween including Spooky Afternoon Tea for Kids, Pumpkin Carving & Painting, A Creatures of the Night Trail, Isadora Moon Day & Author Reading and a Fete Worse than Death!!

FAMILY-FRIENDLY HALLOWEEN EVENT AT FAIRYTALE FARM

Fairytale Farm have a family friendly Halloween event this year, from Saturday 21st to Sunday 29th October, with free games and activities for younger children. They have free pumpkin carving, spooky biscuit decorating and get creative in their colouring corner and enter the on-site competition. If visitors come dressed up for the occasion they will receive a free treat. They also have face painting for a small extra charge.

And the late-night illuminations evening on Saturday 28th October will be a special Halloween-themed event. From 5pm visitors buying the special ‘Illuminations and Supper’ all-in farm admission and food package will be able to join in with extra Halloween activities, as well seeing the farm and having a stroll through the illuminated Enchanted Walk.

HALLOWEEN TRAIL AT STONOR

There are lots of  Halloween activities at Stonor!  Use a map to search for clues and explore the grounds to find hidden riddles – work together to solve them and receive a sweet treat!  Your ticket also includes entrance to the Wonder Woods adventure playground where children will have hours of entertainment swinging, jumping, sliding, climbing and splashing.

Pumpkin carving and decorating is also available, along with hot and cold drinks, hot soup, snacks and sandwiches in their Visitor Centre.

LITTLE MONSTERS AT BICESTER AVENUE WYEVALE GARDEN CENTRE

There are lots of activities going on at Bicester Avenue this half term from Lantern Making, Pumpkin Carving, Haunted Heather Planting, Creating your own Spooky Spiders and Halloween parties.

THE GREAT PUMPKIN HUNT AT WATERPERRY GARDENS

Join The Great Pumpkin Hunt throughout the October half term from 21st October to 5th November. Find the decorated pumpkins hidden around the gardens and collect a prize at the end! £2 per child

SPOOKS AND GHOULS ON CHINNOR RAILWAY

Dare you go and ride on the steam hauled Ghost train with a bunch of spooks and ghouls? Well, this Halloween Sunday, you may have your chance, as they will be haunting the Chinnor & Princes Risborough Railway once again! Children in Halloween fancy dress travel for just £1 and will receive a small treat bag.

Departures from Chinnor station are: 11.00, 12.15, 13.30, 15.00, & 16.30.  Each round trip takes approximately 50 minutes in duration.
