Penguin at The North Wall Art Centre: 27 January 2018

Ben is delighted when he rips open his present: inside is a penguin. “Hello Penguin!” says Ben. Penguin says nothing. Ben tickles Penguin; he pulls his funniest face; he puts on a happy hat, sings a silly song and does a dizzy dance. Penguin says nothing…so Ben fires Penguin into OUTER SPACE.

Exciting, surreal and full of surprises, Penguin is based on the award-winning book by Polly Dunbar, with songs by Tom Gray of Gomez that will have everyone joining in.

For ages 2-8

BEAUTY AND THE BEAST PANTOMIME, KENNINGTON VILLAGE CENTRE: 27 January 2018

Kennington Amateur Dramatic Society presents Beauty and the Beast – the pantomime by Lorraine Mason. Our version of the well-loved fairy tale sees a handsome but selfish Prince cursed by the evil fairy Demonica, certain to spend the rest of his life as a hideous and lonely Beast. Only true love can break the spell, so join Beauty, her two lazy sisters, and a whole host of other hilarious characters in this traditional family pantomime. Fantasy, make-believe, music and good times guaranteed!

As in previous years, we will be supporting a local charity with a collection at each performance. This year we are raising funds for Ronald MacDonald House Oxford, an incredibly worthy cause.

Maker Club: Let’s Get Gaming: 27 January 2018

For this month’s Maker Club Science Oxford are going retro and creating their own versions of arcade games using Micro:bits. Some of the games can be made into two-player challenges, so will wire the micro:bits to each other and get competitive. They will also be giving the dice a makeover – create a digital dice, and everyone will get a 3D printed dice to take home.

A great introduction to coding and video game design. Makers who have been before are welcome to bring along a project of their own to work on

Cinderella Green: The Recycling Queen at The Oxford Story Museum: 27 & 28 January 2018

Cinderella Green works really hard for her two, not-so-environmentally-minded stepsisters, when all she really wants to do is spend more time with her beloved wildlife.

Full of gentle clowning, magical puppets made from household objects and sing-a-long songs, this is a puppet play about rubbish, recycling and romance!

Suitable for ages 4+

The Adventures of Bookworm at The Oxford Story Museum: 27 January 2018

A fantastic Early Years activity with puppeteer and author Emma Boor! Go along and meet book worm and join in his amazing adventures through the world of story books. An interactive puppets and play session with music, gentle clowning and lots of joining in.

The Sinodun Players’ 70th Annual Pantomime – Cinderella, a rock ‘n’ roll panto is showing at the Corn Exchange in Wallingford this January.

Henley College Students Art Exhibition – Henley River & Rowing Museum: 27 & 28 January 2018

‘Breakout’ marks the exciting debut exhibition for a collection of young artists currently studying at Henley College.  The works exhibited in this show intends to invoke a response from the viewer by offering an insight into their artistic journey.  From Fine Art to Fashion, installation to design, Breakout exhibits the sheer diversity of skill within artistic practice and offers a rare glimpse at the creative energy currently shaping our contemporary world.

Winter Weekends at Waddesdon Manor: 27 & 28 January 2018

This January to March explore the gardens that are full of stark beauty at this time of year, with early spring flowers such as snowdrops and winter aconities. Highway Rat Activity Trail at Wendover Woods: 27 & 28 January 2018
