ABINGDON TENNIS CLUB

Abingdon Tennis Club actively encourage juniors to come and play tennis. Beginners and experienced juniors are welcome – just turn up and introduce yourselves to Craig.

Bicester Lawn Tennis Club offer Mini Tennis which is a great introduction to tennis for children from 5 to 11 years old. The game is adapted with slower balls, smaller courts and smaller rackets in order to allow progression. The approach is tailored by age and physical development and allows children to develop many skills and techniques at an early age.

BLEWBURY TENNIS CLUB

The junior tennis programmes have been developed in partnership with the LTA to help players accelerate their learning and development. They offer the following junior programmes:

  1. LTA Mini Tennis – for players aged three to ten years old (Weekly Programme)
  2. Junior Tennis – for players aged eleven to eighteen (Weekly Programme)
  3. Holiday Camps – for players aged five to sixteen, ranging from one day to full week camps

The development of juniors, whether they are complete beginners or committed enthusiasts competing in tournaments, is an important part of our club. At North Oxford we have something to offer all junior tennis players, from the age of 4 and up.

THAME TENNIS CLUB

Thame Tennis Club have an extensive junior coaching programme, including term time coaching, holiday camps and schools tennis.

Mini tennis is a great introduction to tennis for children between 3 and 10 years old. The game is adapted with slower balls, smaller courts and smaller rackets in order to allow progression. This approach tailored upon age and physical development allows children to develop many skills and techniques at an early age. Once obtained, these skills can be carried to Yellow Ball, where they can play a full version of the game.

The junior programme is for 10 years old upwards, playing with a full court and full ball. The club runs a ‘all abilities’, ‘intermediate’ and ‘squad’ sessions to accommodate players regardless of their motivation to play tennis. For some it may be social, for health, or if they have been in the programme from mini tennis level.

WYCHWOODS TENNIS CLUB

The junior programme starts indoors with Mini Tennis in The New Beaconsfield Hall during the week and Saturday mornings. Players move outside from age 7 with group sessions for each age group offered after school and on Saturday mornings during term time. Holiday clubs and tournaments run during half-term and in the Easter and Summer holidays. This programme has led to the development of some outstanding young players who have made an impact on the county tennis scene
