We have just got home from Far Peak Campsite feeling exhausted yet content after a weekend of late nights and climbing.
We were a large group with 8 other families and they were very happy to welcome us. We were directed into a large field on arrival to choose a space and pitch our tent.
We took with us an abundance of food and drink, and as we were unpacking, we stared at a neighbouring camper in envy as a Tesco delivery van turned up with their supplies directly to their tent!!! Next year we will be the envy of the campsite with this new found knowledge of being able to get food delivered even when you’re camping in the great outdoors!
We made use of all the food we took with us as our culinary chefs took to their stations and turned sausages, flipped burgers and twirled kebabs on the BBQ we hired from the campsite. Later that night we all toasted extra large marshmallows over the fire pit, also hired from the campsite.
We spent most of the next day at the climbing centre which was £5 per person if you were staying on the site. We visited the low rope course first which was filled with climbing ropes, wobbly logs and a zip wire and perfect for little ankle biters, after lunch at the onsite cafe we spent the rest of the afternoon climbing walls which was a first for my 2 girls and they absolutely loved it, so much that my eldest has asked for a climbing party for her next birthday.
That evening the cafe, which was a short walk from our pitch had a pizza evening which was a welcome luxury (in camping terms) after the busy day we’d had.
Each night the friendly wardens visited each camp to make sure all was okay and shush any rowdy campers (us on the second night)!
The toilets, showers and washing facilities were close by and clean which is all you need on a camping trip.
If you are looking for a campsite that accepts large groups I can highly recommend Far Peak Campsite.
