We are always on the look out for restaurants or pubs to take the kids to for lunch or dinner. This is our guide to child friendly restaurants in Oxfordshire:

Bill’s, Oxford and Witney

Best For… Yummy breakfast for kiddies

Bill’s is guaranteed to be a hit with the kids. Children are catered for from breakfast through to dinner.

If you’re out and about early doors little tummies will be spoilt for choice. Breakfast includes; buttermilk pancakes with fruit, bacon or sausage sarnie, eggs on toast and a Bill’s breakfast. For mains why not tempt them with steak and chips, a ham and cheese toastie, macaroni cheese or Little Bill’s Hamburger.

Best For… Pretending you’re dining by the Seine

Cote’s Menu Enfants offers a great selection of tasty meals that will appeal to even the fussiest of little eaters. You’ll find things like; risotto, croque monsieur and cod goujons. What’s not to love?

Best For… A Sunday Carvery

This pub has a great carvery on a Sunday and also boasts a large garden of almost two acres in size with a barbeque area, benches and an excellent children’s play area.

Farmhouse Kitchen, Millets Farm Nr Abingdon

Best For… A Seasonal and Wholesome Menu

The Farmhouse Kitchen team works closely with the Farm Shop butchers and bakers to deliver a delicious and wholesome menu. Using the freshest ingredients picked from the Millets family farm we are proud to offer seasonal dishes with minimal food miles.

Farmhouse kitchen, offer a reasonably priced  “young farmers “ picnic bag of 5 items for £4.50 that included a cheese or ham roll, fruit and veg pots, yoghurts, cheese and a drink.

Jamie’s Italian, Oxford

Best For… Italian Dining

Jamie Oliver has long been known for the amazing work he does with children’s nutrition and healthy eating, and his restaurants are a testament to that. This is a great option for eating out as a family. There’s always lots of keep them entertained over the meal in terms of colouring and activities, and the menu offers a fantastic range of healthy and yummy meals. You’ll find things like; happy chicken lollipops, fantastic fish stew and organic mini spaghetti and meatballs. What’s more, watch out for Kids Eat Free during some school holidays. Winner!

Little Amsterdam, Banbury

Best For… Pancakes

A fantastic children’s menu and toddlers up to 3 years old get a free miniature pancake too! There’s also a a little play area near the tables, allowing you to enjoy a cup of tea while our children play.

Pizza Calzone, Banbury

Best For… Authentic Italian Food

The menu at Pizza Calzone offers a variety of authentic Italian dishes including pizza, salads and pasta, and although there is no specific children’s menu more than half of the menu can be turned into a child’s smaller portion for just £6.95.

Best For… Pizza, Pasta and Dessert

My children love Prezzo and it’s always safe choice if you’re looking to take the family out for dinner. They have a substantial adults menu plus a great choice on their children’s menu with colouring sheets and crayons to keep them entertained.

The Black Horse, Thame

Best For… A Traditional Pub Feel

The Black Horse in Thame reopened in December 2017 under The White Brasserie Company. They offer a fantastic kids menu with a main and dessert for £6.95 and a Junior menu, where younger diners that are maybe too old for the kids menu can choose smaller (and cheaper) dishes.

The Crazy Bear Farm Shop, Steadhampton

Best For… A Wholesome Menu and an Outdoor Play Area

Located in Stadhampton, behind the Crazy Bear hotel and restaurant, the farm shop was originally created in 2004 to service the Crazy Bear restaurant chain and has flourished ever since.
There is the usual quality farm shop produce you would expect from somewhere like this along with a restaurant offering all day breakfasts, sandwiches, boards and a variety of hot dishes, all at a reasonable price.
Roaming the surrounding farmland were llamas, reindeer, goats and a number of other farm animals, which was a big hit with the children, as was the outdoor play area.

The Duck on the Pond, South Newington

Best For… Al Fresco Dining in the Beautiful Gardens

The Duck on the Pond is a picturesque pub with a beautiful gardens with a pond where your little ones can see lots of fish swimming and ducks paddling.

Best For… A Specially Designed, Homemade Menu for Children

The Fox Inn has a children’s menu that has been developed in partnership with Dotty’s Kitchin, and it is evident that each item has been carefully thought about to be exciting, delicious and nutritious.

The James Figg, Thame

Best For… Fantastic Sunday Roasts

The James Figg has a traditional pub that offers a fantastic roast on a Sunday. There is a large garden for when the weather is warm. If you visit on a day when the weather isn’t so good and you’re sat inside you might want to take some books and colouring to keep the children occupied.

Best For… Riverside Dining with an Outdoor Play Area
Set on the River Thames in Shabbington sits The Old Fisherman, a pub and restaurant with a fantastic garden and play area where you can easily spend a good few hours on a warm summer’s day.

Best For… Summer Outdoor Eating

The children’s menu offers 2 courses for £7.25 with a choice of a number of main courses including Chicken Salad, Chicken/Beef Burger & Fries, Fish & Chips, Mac & Cheese and Pizza, and  a choice of 3 desserts.

Best For… Delicious Indian Cuisine

Our whole family absolutely love The Star and Garter and the team are super friendly. My kids love the children’s menu choices and can’t get enough of the Papadams and delicious Nan Bread

 The Three Horseshoes, Towersey

Best for… Lazy Sunday Afternoons

Located just off the Pheonix Trail, The Three Horseshoes boasts a large garden with a good size play area and sand pit. There is also a small stream and surrounding hedges for the children to explore.
It serves good pub food with roasts on a Sunday and I can personally recommend the beef and horseradish baguette paired with a pot of dipping gravy. The children’s menu has a choice of hot meals and at lunchtime cheese and ham sandwiches.

The Treacle Tea Rooms, Thame

Best For… Yummy Cakes

The Treacle Tea Rooms offers a great choice on both it’s adult and children’s menu. Upstairs there are a number of puzzles, games and books to keep the children entertained.

The Wee Bookshop, Chinnor

Best For… Entertaining Children over Lunch

The Wee Bookshop in Chinnor is much more than a bookshop.

The bookshop is part of the charity Fight Bladder Cancer with 100% of its profits going to the charity.
The café onsite offers a good range off baguettes and paninis plus ham, jam or cheese sandwiches for the kids that come complete with cucumber, a Satsuma and packet of Pomm Bears.
There are lots of books, puzzles, colouring and games to keep the children entertained along with a little train chugging it’s way around the shop.

Wagamama, Oxford

Best For… Entertaining eating

A personal favourite with our little ones, Wagamama gives children the opportunity to branch out and try new flavours, even having a go with some chopsticks. The mini Japanese dishes on offer include; mini ramen, katsu curry, cod cubes and grilled chicken noodles. And they’ll love the informal bench style dining.

Wyevale Garden Centre, Bicester

Best For.. An Indoor Play Area

We can easily spend an afternoon in Wyevale Garden Centre. There is a restaurant onsite with lots of choice at a reasonable price or you could choose to eat in the soft play area where there is a separate cafe where the children can run around in until the food arrives.

It does get booked up so try and book in advance if you can.

Yo Sushi, Oxford

Best For… Trying a Little Bit of Everything

My children absolutely love Yo Sushi and choosing from the different coloured plates as they go around the conveyor belt. Our favourites are edamame beans, Teriyaki Chicken and the mixed Katsu Dish.
